Welcome to the Senior Phase of Learning Years 10, 11 & 12
Deception Bay SHS provides students with an opportunity to select from a very broad range of subjects so they can pursue a program of study that will best enable them to achieve their goals.
Senior Schooling monitors the progress of every student and provides support throughout their 3 years of Senior Schooling. We aim for every student who completes year 12 to leave with their QCE and the skills to move forward for their future.
Pathways are designed for each individual student to ensure they can work toward achieving their best, these include:
Authority subjects to be OP eligible Aiming for University
Authority subjects and a Certificate III
Aiming for University or further TAFE course
Authority and Authority Registered
Aiming for TAFE or workforce
Authority, Authority Registered and Certificates II or III
Aiming for TAFE or workforce
Authority Registered and Certificates II or III Aiming for TAFE or workforce
Mixture of these types of subjects and a School Based Traineeship or Apprenticeship
As a student in the Senior Phase there is more emphasis on accepting responsibility for their own learning.  This requires dedication to their learning, self-discipline, commitment and a willingness to make sacrifices to achieve their best.
For students to be successful they need to evaluate their successes in the middle phase and ability to do well in the subjects they choose. The choice of subjects must be realistic, yet challenging.  It is important students choose subjects that they are good at and like.  This will significantly increase their chances of doing well.
Senior Schooling office is located in the Resource Centre and appointments (07) 3897 2222 can be made to see either of the two Head of Departments:
