PEOPLE We empower our people by fostering an environment of high expectations, connection to culture, and continuing personal growth.
Deception Bay State High School is a diverse, dynamic and culturally inclusive community. Our vision is to ensure that all students feel that our school is a culturally safe place for them to access learning. We achieve this through setting and maintaining high expectations for all students; providing opportunities for students to connect to culture both in classroom and extracurricular settings and by engaging students in conversations about personal growth and future aspiration. A key aspect of this work is partnerships with families, local businesses and service providers, the regional education sector and the wider community.
INCLUSION We embrace diversity and ensure every student receives the support needed to engage purposefully in learning.
Deception Bay State High School commits to continuing our journey towards inclusive education being part of our everyday practice and school culture. We have high expectations of all students, recognising that, with the right support, all students can succeed. For identified priority groups, a number of additional reasonable adjustments and support are in place. Our commitment means that young people in our community, from all social, cultural, and family backgrounds, and of all identities and all abilities are able to be the best they can be.
POSITIVE EDUCATION We foster wellbeing and the development of character so that students can be a lifelong thriving learner.
We understand that for students to thrive in their learning, in their relationships and in life, then we are responsible for building a supportive environment where students feel supported, safe and where they feel that they belong. Positive Education at Deception Bay State High school is evident in the junior school Learning for Life curriculum.
