Stand Alone VET offered at Deception Bay SHS
Deception Bay State High School guarantees that once training has commenced the school will ensure the student will have access to complete their course as long as the student meets all of the course requirements. If the school relinquishes registration for the qualification it is the school's responsibility to ensure the student has options to complete the qualification with another RTO. If that occurs students will need to pay any costs incurred. If a key staff member leaves the school and a replacement cannot be found the school will ensure the qualification is continued through other means. Students/parents will be informed in writing if one of these situations occurs.
School-based apprenticeships and traineeships
Many students begin their future careers by completing School-based Apprenticeships or Traineeships (SAT) while in school. Available courses are advertised in school notices. If students are interested in a SAT they should contact Senior Schooling – VET.
Other courses
Deception Bay State High School supports students enrolling in TAFE or other schools programs. TAFE courses are usually completed in Year 11 and 12. Information is available through Senior Schooling.
Complaints and appeals
A complaint can be made to the school RTO regarding the conduct of:
- the school RTO, its trainers, assessors or other school RTO staff
- students of the RTO
- any third parties providing services on behalf of the school RTO (if relevant).
An appeal can be made to the school RTO to request a review of a decision, including assessment decisions.
The school RTO will ensure that the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness are adopted at every stage of the complaints and appeals process. All formal complaints and appeals will be heard and decided on within 60 calendar days of receiving the written complaint or appeal.
If the school RTO considers more than 60 calendar days are required to process and finalise the complaint or appeal, the complainant or appellant will be informed of the reasons in writing and will be regularly updated on the progress of the matter.
If the processes fail to resolve the complaint or appeal, a review by an independent party will be provided if requested.
Complaints or appeals should be directed to the Principal as CEO of the school RTO: principal@deceptionbayshs.eq.edu.au
Student rights and responsibilities regarding Vocational Education and Training are outlined in the VET Student Agreement.
