Welcome to the Deception Bay State High School website. To all families and other members of this wonderful school's community we hope the website is informative and displays the beautiful work on display every day at our school.
We intend to be the school of choice for our local families and passionately believe in a student-centred approach that allows students the chance to build a sense of belonging, find their voice, develop deep knowledge and understanding to prepare our young people for the world beyond the school gates.
At Deception Bay State High School, it is our aim to provide all students with a learning environment where they are able to achieve their goals. This incorporates providing multiple opportunities for high quality achievements across the academic, cultural, citizenship and sporting areas.
To achieve this it is essential that we establish strong and supportive partnerships between students, staff, parents/caregivers and the wider community. These partnerships allow us to provide the best possible learning environment, one which is inclusive for all students, and where students can gain the skills necessary to be successful members of our 21st Century society.
In consultation with our school community we have identified four values that underpin student learning and all interaction within our school community. These values; Belonging, Integrity, Aspiration and Persistence ensure that all our students are valued, feel safe at school and can learn in an environment that is supportive, challenging and recognises individual differences.
Deception Bay High fosters high expectations for attendance as “Every Day Counts". Research shows that high attendance is associated with high achievement. We also believe in a disciplined and safe environment where students wear the school uniform with pride and engage respectfully with their peers, staff and the wider community.
At Deception Bay High we endeavour to communicate with families on a regular basis. To assist with this, we would greatly appreciate you ensuring your contact details are up to date.
The school Facebook page is a key platform for us to share news and celebrate success so please follow us to stay informed and to celebrate our beautiful work. Additionally, we have our newsletter which is published 4 times per semester and is available from our school website.
We look forward to being a part of your student's journey to achieving their full potential and ensuring they are 'The Best They Can Be.'
