Welcome to the Senior Phase of Learning Years 10, 11 & 12.

Deception Bay SHS provides students with an opportunity to select from a very broad range of subjects so they can pursue a program of study that will best enable them to achieve their goals. We believe every student has the right to cross the stage with Dignity, Purpose and Options when they graduate from our school.

Senior Schooling monitors the progress of every student throughout their senior journey, providing support and intervention required, through term by term data reviews. Every senior student at Deception Bay SHS is allocated a coach with whom they meet with regularly.

It is the goal of senior education at Deception Bay SHS that all students leave with their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). We have a very proud record of supporting our students to succeed with 100% QCE attainment since 2013.

We offer a diverse senior curriculum which promotes inclusion and allow students to prepare for life after high school. A variety of pathways which support individual student's goals and aspirations are catered for including; preparing for University (ATAR), Vocational Education and Training (VET) and direct employment.

As a student in the senior phase there is more emphasis on accepting responsibility for their own learning.  This requires dedication to their learning, self-discipline, commitment and a willingness to make sacrifices to achieve their best.  This includes increased student responsibility in relation to assessment and subject changes, please refer to the schools assessment policy and subject change documents for more information.

For students to be successful they need to evaluate their successes in the middle phase and ability to do well in the subjects they choose. The choice of subjects must be realistic, yet challenging.  It is important students choose subjects that they are good at and like.  This will significantly increase their chances of doing well.

The Senior Schooling office is located in the Resources Centre.
