Assessment is an important part of teaching and learning and provides students with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and skills. The school is committed to ensuring assessment processes are fair, consistent and aligned with curriculum and QCAA requirements.

Students are expected to engage fully in the assessment process, including completing assessment by published due dates and participating in required drafting, feedback and authentication processes.

Summary of assessment expectations

  • Drafts and feedback: Students are required to submit drafts by 11:59pm on the draft date. Drafting provides an important opportunity to receive feedback and improve the quality of their final response.
  • Due dates: Students must submit assessment by 11:59pm on the due date. Students are responsible for planning and managing their workload to meet these deadlines.
  • Late or non-submission: Where a student does not submit a final response by the due date, the school will apply the relevant curriculum and QCAA requirements. This may include making a judgement based on evidence available on or before the due date.
  • Extensions and AARA: Students experiencing circumstances beyond their control that may impact their ability to complete assessment should contact the Head of Senior Schooling as early as possible. Eligible students may access Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) in accordance with QCAA requirements.
  • Academic integrity: Assessment must represent the student's own work. Students must appropriately acknowledge sources and comply with requirements relating to plagiarism, collusion, artificial intelligence and other forms of academic misconduct.
  • Examinations: Students are expected to attend examinations at the scheduled time and comply with all examination conditions. Without an approved reason for absence, a student will receive a Not Rated result and be ineligible to continue with the subject.

The school will communicate assessment requirements and due dates clearly and provide students with appropriate teaching, feedback and support. Students, parents/carers and staff share responsibility for identifying concerns early so that students have the best possible opportunity to successfully complete their assessment.
